I had a brief look around at what’s been going on in hip hop over the past week. It seems the J Cole and Diggy Simmons beef has been reignited. It appears Mr Cole took a shot at Diggy during a freestyle session. I dunno, it might just be me but I can’t take this beef too seriously. I hope it blows over soon. King of Comedy DL Hughley was the next celeb to attack Lupe Fiasco by calling his stance of not voting ‘silly.’ Each to their own, I personally think there are a lot more ‘sillier’ messages being thrown around in Hip-Hop. Lupe’s an easy target. Anyways, here’s my top five tracks of the week – shouts to Gerald Walker, Cardo, Jaecyn Bayne, Yungen, Devilman and Dee Goodz.

1) Gerald Walker & Cardo – “Walk On Water Or Drown”

Gerald Walker and Taylor Gang affiliate back with another hit. Joint also fetures Key Wane. Produced by Sledgren.

2) Jaecyn Bayne – “Stateside”

Directed by: Deezy

Owl Studios signee Jaecyn Bayne with new vid “Stateside”. Make sure you cop his debut album Audo Therapy. Some dope features including one of my favourite emcees of all time, Canibus.

3) Yungen – “Rapstars”

Directed By: Rap City

Bussin’ a slight US twang in this. UK emcee Yungen with his video for “Rapstars”. Seems to be going down a treat in the UK.

4) Devilman Freestyle

Directed by: Showerdown

Dope freestyle over a hot grime beat. His sweater says it all really. Maddd!

5) Dee Goodz – “What’s On Your Mind”

The homie Dee Goodz does it again. “What’s On Your Mind” is smooth, sensitive and as always… uber cool. Hit play.

Curren$y – “Mary”

Directed by: CJ Wallis

He may be a self-confessed stoner, but Curren$y is far from lazy. When he’s not in the studio pumping out umpteen projects a year, Spitta is busy on the road. In the new alternative video to “Mary,” off his New Jet City mixtape, the Jet Life chief compiles live footage from three of his most recent shows in just under three minutes.

  1. Havoc (feat. Styles P & Raekwon) – “Favorite Rap Stars”
  2. Tree (feat. Danny Brown) – “No Faces”
  3. Mac Miller – “Watching Movies”
  4. Casey Veggies – “Money Don’t Buy Time” (prod. by Lee Bannon)
  5. The-Dream (feat. Jay-Z) – “High Art”
  6. Chance The Rapper & Nosaj Thing – “Paranoia”
  7. Mobb Deep – “Life We Chose” (Remix)
  8. Jon Connor (feat. Royce Da 5’9″) – “Michigan $h*t”
  9. Hannibal Stax & Marco Polo (feat. Torae) – “Warrior Drumz”
  10. Erick Arc Elliott – “50″
