Syndication

With all the CMJ hoopla starting to take form (can’t believe it’s that time of year already), Kyle Rapps & Diwon get set to be a part of the action by A) dropping their TV-themed mixtape Syndication, and B) performing at the Scion sponsored CMJ showcase at The Paperbox (Brooklyn, NYC), along with Pro Era’s Capital Steez, Brandun Deshay, Aaron Cohen & The Inner City Kids, Rilgood, Maffew Ragazino and more (see flyer below). In promotion for the festivities, the duo leaks the projects third single, “Portlandia.” By the title and sound of things, it’s no mystery that the show’s theme song “Feel It All Around” by Washed Out serves as the musical centerpiece here. Nonetheless, this joint’s equally as hilarious as it is dope…peep game and for those in the NYC, be sure to RSVP via Facebook to next Wednesday’s event.

Sometimes I feel like I’m so underground even I don’t see me, Ahead of my time I’m a preemie – feed me, ahead of the lunch line – free-free/ The rap scene is mad sceney, the rap scene is mad seedy, the caffeine – the bad dream I had weekly/ I’m tuna sashami raw, hard to the core, put graffiti on the wall of your CD store…

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
