Brooklyn duo, Issa Dash and Ak, collectively known as The Underachievers, have found themselves in a bubble of buzz for the last 8 months or so. The Beast Coast representatives captured the attention of hungry fans and intrigued industry insiders alike with crisply-visualized efforts like “So Devilish,” “Gold Soul Theory” and “Herb Shuttles.” With a record deal and invaluable co-sign from Flying Lotus and his Brainfeeder label, the upstart pair’s success has culminated into their debut mixtape, Indigoism, fresh out last night. Punching in it a weighty 17 tracks, the project is the perfect introduction to their talents–especially as there’s zero guest features, just the assured raps of Issa and Ak coupled with superb beats from the likes of Mr. Bristol, Dreamrite and Rich Flyer. It’s no wonder FlyLo wrote what he did below.

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
