Meek Mill Future

It’s that time of year again, folks. Today MTV began to unveil their annual eyebrow-raiser, the Hottest MCs in the Game list. Meek Mill lands at the #10 spot, ousting both French Montana and Pusha T for the final placement. With two polarizing projects, the Dreamchasers 2 mixtape and his Dreams & Nightmares debut LP, coupled with a smash single “Amen,” is there an argument that the MMG rapper should have been higher?

Meanwhile, the evermore popular Future made his debut on the list coming in at #9. The Atlanta native released his debut album, Pluto in 2012, which was powered by a handful of charting singles including “Tony Montana,” “Same Damn Time,” and “Turn On The Lights,” and has lent his raspy Auto-Tuned crooning to two hit singles in 2013 already: Lil Wayne‘s “Love Me” and Ace Hood‘s “Bugatti.”

The Hottest MCs in the Game list will continue to unravel tomorrow with #8 and #7 being revealed. In the meantime, hit us with your thoughts on today’s picks in the comments section below.

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
