If there’s one story that stuck out (and struck a nerve) this week, it’s Birdman‘s announcement of a new Big Tymers album. But wait — new music from the once-formidable duo of Baby and Mannie Fresh, who brought us unashamed Southern rap hits like “Still Fly,” “This Is How We Do” and “Get Ya Roll On,” is great, right?

Not when Mannie, the producing, rapping, hook-delivering driving force behind the group, has been banished in favor of two new additions: Lil Wayne and Drake. They might as well call this shit a Cash Money compilation.

With the griping out of the way, we pick our five favorite tracks and videos you might have missed this week (presumably from sending hateful tweets to @BIRDMAN5STAR). This week, Alexander Spit, Young Roddy, GQ, Alpha Faktion and G. Huff bring you the goodies.

1) Alexander Spit – “Valet Park, CA”

With A Breathtaking Trip to That Otherside solidifying him as an MC-to-watch, Alexander Spit flexes his producer’s muscles with his new instrumental project, Mansions 2. Here’s a sample.

2) Young Roddy – “This One”

Directed by: CJ Wallis

One of the smoothest, heartfelt records from Young Roddy‘s Good Sense II mixtape gets a charming visual makeover.

3) GQ – “Last Breath” (prod. by 9th Wonder)

Jamla signee GQ recently released Death Threats & Love Notes: The Prelude, a precursor to his upcoming album. But in case you missed it first time round, allow this 9th Wonder-produced gem to nudge you in the right direction.

4) Alpha Faktion – “Truth, Lies & Audiotape”

Directed by: Black Reign

Off Alpha Faktion‘s Truth, Lies & Audiotape EP, dropping May 21.

5) G. Huff – “I Aint Done Yet” (prod. by J57)

Another drop from Ohio MC G.Huff‘s upcoming Vacant Thoughts project. This time he links up with BBAS producer J57 for “I Ain’t Done Yet.”

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
