This week was definitely a funny one; and it was yet more proof that 2013 might just be the craziest year in hip-hop so far. Miguel leg-dropped a chick during a show, fuelling hilarious memes for days to come; Tim Dog, as it turns out, didn’t actually die; and the evermore disconnected-from-reality Young Money signed their most laughable artist to date: Paris Hilton. Oh, and Kanye West had his face projected on building walls for the second week running. June 18 can’t come soon enough.

For this week’s underground picks, we’ve got some gems. On the heels of his mildly underwhelming Ransomnia project, Ro Ransom dropped “Lesbian Girl” (I need a download link stat); Jay Rock proved he’s still got it on Noah Jones‘ “When The Goons Come Out”; Papoose silenced the jokesters with the video for his Premo-powered “Turn It Up”; Rilgood grabbed Fat Tony and Chase N. Cashe for a dope new track; and Toronto newcomer Derek Wise dropped the best video I’ve watched all week: “CLAYCO.” Keep an eye on that guy.

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
