We’ve been teased about My 1st Chemistry Set, the joint venture between Detroit native Boldy James and super producer The Alchemist, for quite some time, as the project has the potential to be one of the best albums of the last few months.
Mr. MFN Exquire & Chance The Rapper; a collaboration between these two artists was bound to happen eventually. Exquire, who released his June album, Kismet, plans to re-release the project, adding a number of bonus tracks to the already existing body of work.
Blu and producer Nottz teamed up to create a six track EP entitled, Gods In The Spirit.
I think a lot of people don’t show enough love to 9th Wonder; this is strange, as his diverse talents make him quite the well rounded producer (I’ll take him over a Lex Luger or a Mike WiLL Made It beat any day of the week) and having worked with everyone from Buckshot to Kendrick Lamar has allowed the North Carolina beat maker to explore a bunch of different sounds.
Schoolboy Q‘s Oxymoron has become one of the most anticipated albums of the past while for good reason. With the impressive resume that the Black Hippy rapper has built in the last few years, including projects with Ab Soul, Kendrick Lamar and ASAP Rocky, that have brought him to the forefront of new generation of blog prominent rappers.
Greg Grease – “Forward”
If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
