hot97 summer jam

Earlier today, Hot 97 revealed the eagerly anticipated lineup for the 2013 Summer Jam. Kendrick Lamar, 2 Chainz, Wu-Tang Clan (in full force!), A$AP Rocky, Wale, French Montana, Miguel, Chris Brown, Fabolous and Joe Budden have all been confirmed to play the Main Stage this year. I know what you’re thinking: no Drake, no Kanye, no Jay, no FUTURE VANDROSS? Let’s hope Hot 97 still have a few surprises stuffed up their sleeve.

The 2013 Summer Jam takes place Sunday, June 2 at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Tickets are available here.

travis scott

I was speaking with Semtex earlier this week and we both agree that Travi$ Scott has got next. The 20-year-old Houston native, who, despite the confusion, is signed to Epic, G.O.O.D. Music and Grand Hustle, continues to prove us right. After efforts with Gunplay, Chuck Inglish and Fredo Santana (“Pussy“) and Wale (“Quintana“), Scott delivers his biggest collaboration to date with the T.I. and 2 Chainz-bolstered “Upper Echelon.” Still no release date for his Owl Pharaoh EP, but you can bet it’ll be one of the biggest surprises of the year.

Fresh off his MTV accolade, 2 Chainz takes his rags-to-riches story to the digital screen by debuting the video for his Based on a T.R.U. Story trap anthem, “Crack.”

After a week of complaints, Disqus comments and Hot 97 phone calls (“I gave Sway his first TV” – Kanye West, 2013), MTV have concluded their annual Hottest MCs in the Game list. All the details after the jump.

trinidad james

One of the most significant (not to mention divisive) records of 2012 has just got bigger. It’s an all-ATL affair as T.I., Young Jeezy and 2 Chainz join Trinidad Jame$ on his goliath “All Gold Everything” hit for an official remix. Word on the interstreets is that this is just one of many. With that said, give this updated version a spin below and let us know who you think stole the show (for their bars, not their jewellery, that is).

Kendrick Lamar – “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe”

Kendrick Lamar finally gives his good kid, m.A.A.d city favorite, “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe,” the video treatment. The all-white-themed visual captures the melancholy of the record to perfection, while a cameo from Mike Epps injects some extra humour. Watch on to catch Kendrick’s anti-molly message at the end, too.

  1. Havoc (feat. Styles P & Raekwon) – “Favorite Rap Stars”
  2. Tree (feat. Danny Brown) – “No Faces”
  3. Mac Miller – “Watching Movies”
  4. Casey Veggies – “Money Don’t Buy Time” (prod. by Lee Bannon)
  5. The-Dream (feat. Jay-Z) – “High Art”
  6. Chance The Rapper & Nosaj Thing – “Paranoia”
  7. Mobb Deep – “Life We Chose” (Remix)
  8. Jon Connor (feat. Royce Da 5’9″) – “Michigan $h*t”
  9. Hannibal Stax & Marco Polo (feat. Torae) – “Warrior Drumz”
  10. Erick Arc Elliott – “50″
