50Cent

Looks like the Alex Da Kid produced “Warning You” track off 50′s forthcoming Street King Immortal made its way to the internet a bit prematurely according to Fif’s twitter page. The production is in line with Fif’s fail proof formula of street bangers, fused with Skylar’s convincing hook not to ever, ever, ever turn your back on the mega-mogul.. he will not lose. Hit the jump for more details…

A Harvard computer program attempted to quantify who is the best rapper of all time has been created. Rap lovers can often get carried away in never-ending debates and argument on hip-hop. Give it to Tahir Hemphill for coming up with a scientific program that measures mic skills – attempting to end the never-ending debates and arguments. Read more after the jump…

Bitch ends up appearing in almost a third of the songs. Hip-Hop is always villainized but people have to understand that Hip-Hop is a reflection of American culture, probably in one of its most distilled and pure forms.

J. Cole ensured he kept the spotlight on his new Born Sinner album by only including rapping guest features on the deluxe edition — and, boy, was it worth the exception. Dare we say Jermaine was the missing ingredient to resurrect 50 Cent of old? Stream “New York Times” below and decide for yourself. Born Sinner in stores June 18.

Sorry, Kidd Kidd. Due to popular demand, 50 Cent drops his G-Unit signee from the final, official release of his Street King Immortal single, “We Up.” Instead, Fif adds a new second verse to compliment Kendrick Lamar‘s typically spotlight-stealing contribution. Street King Immortal is coming soon…we hope.

FridayFlips

Yo it’s about that time, to bring forth the rhythm and the rhyme. Yes, I just quoted Marky Mark, but I’m feeling rather giggity giggity cause it’s Friday.. and you know what that means – it’s another installment of #FridayFlips beeitches. Now although we took a brief hiatus over the past two weeks, we’re back, and we got a real humdinger for ya’. This week, we breakdown Pat Streater‘s use of Ahmad Jamal‘s “The Awakening” on “Visionary Music,” from Manny, featuring J57. The song, which managed to make its rounds on the interweb earlier this week, also borrows the infamous Melvin Bliss “Synthetic Substitution” drum loop, which the homey Nathan S. of Refined Hype breaks down. So without further adieu, hold on to your seats kiddies and hit the jump as we drop some more edutainment on that ass…

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
