In the space of two tracks in two hours, TDE pretty much claimed our full attention. To follow-up on ScHoolboy Q‘s serious new Oxymoron single, “Yay Yay,” Kendrick Lamar and Ab-Soul get together to remake electronic rock band Awolnation’s “Sail,” which made noise back in 2011. Is there anything these Black Hippy boys can’t make sound good?

After announcing a full-length collaboration with JMSN, Ab-Soul continues his foray into the new wave of R&B by lending a guest verse to the up-and-coming Meek DeMeo‘s new single, “Hallucinogen.” The dreamy, drugged-out really zones you out for the first five minutes before the Black Hippy MC pulls you back down to Earth with an engaging, quick-fire verse. This gem will find a home on DeMeo’s forthcoming debut project.

Last year’s “Nibiru” was all the proof needed to show that Ab-Soul and the multi-talented JMSN make a good team. Accordingly, the pair have decided to combine their talents for a full-length project, Unit 6, due out February 6. Here’s the first sample, “You’re Gone,” a dreamy, EDM-infused number which hears Solo describe everything he likes about the opposite sex. The single is available now on iTunes.

Perhaps in light of Control System‘s renewed critical acclaim on many end-of-year lists, Ab-Soul shares the video for his airy “ILLuminate” collaboration with Kendrick Lamar.

mac miller

Mac Miller, Ab-Soul and Chuck Inglish on one track? No complaints for us. The Most Dope, Black Hippy and (former?) Cool Kid collide for the retro-come-funky “All The Time,” which was recorded during Mac’s Watching Movies with the Sound Off LP sessions, but didn’t make the cut. All good, though, you can stream and download the jam below.

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
