berner

Having helped Juicy J revive his career as a hit-making (bandz a make her do what now?) solo artist this year, Wiz Khalifa could well be eyeing up Berner as his new pet project for 2013. To close out this year, the Taylor Gang signee and his boss collaborate for “Paradise,” which flips Phil Collins‘ 1989 Grammy-winning song “Another Day In Paradise” into a smooth and strangely alluring smoking jam. While we anticipate what these two have cooking up for us, be sure to peep Berner’s recent mixtape, Urban Farmer.

Free music is always the best music in Wiz Khalifa’s case. Exhibit A: the first single from his sophomore album O.N.I.F.C., the Stargate and Benny Blanco-produced “Work Hard, Play Hard”, followed Taylor Allderdice, the free mixtape that many are calling Wiz’s finest body of work. Point is, when the Taylor Gang General drops a free song, chances are it’s a keeper. This trend wasn’t kicked with yesterday’s offering, as Wiz welcomes his TGOD sidekick Chevy Woods and fellow pothead Berner into the rotation to hotbox Harry Fraud’s ethereal instrumental on the free download, “OZs & Lbs”. With a title like that, I shouldn’t even need to point out that this one’s a straight smoking joint (pun intended). Press play below.

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
