Big K.R.I.T. draws influence from James Blake — both sonically and visually — for the second and final leak from his forthcoming King Remembered In Time mixtape, “R.E.M.”

Check The Sign” isn’t the only Bun B and Big K.R.I.T. collaboration we’re hearing this month; the Southern patnas have also rode shotgun for “Shine On,” the first drop from Krizzle’s forthcoming King Remembered In Time mixtape. Over a deep, cruising bassline, the two MCs wax hearty and heavily-twanged bars, tipping their hats to the sound of yesteryear while keeping a contemporary edge. It definitely offeres refreshment for the mass of expertly-marketed trash coming out of the South right now.

Big K.R.I.T.‘s pockets must be feeling a little fatter these days. The Mississippi MC’s talents have been enlisted for two different corporations in as many days: First, Crown Royal, who (wisely) paired him with 9th Wonder to create “Reign On” — a spirited, old-school jam which soundtracked their commercial during the Miami Heat and Oklahoma City NBA game last night. Today saw Krizzle share the mic with Southern legend Bun B for “Check The Sign,” a heavily Houston-indebted anthem commissioned by for Jordan for their “XX8 Days of Flight” campaign. It also provides some perfect soundtrack material for the NBA All-Star entertainment in H-Town this weekend. Hear both new tracks below.

Whenever Big K.R.I.T. and the Jamla family get together, you know there’s good music coming. Krizzle, Rapsody, Heather Victoria and 9th Wonder bring us this new delight, “Gettin’ Mine,” to help warm up the Winter season and sooth your musical soul. It’s always dope to return to this video of K.R.I.T. and 9th meeting for the first time back in 2010 and just soak in where they are now.

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
