Eazy E & Ol’ Dirty Bastard are both performing at this year’s Rock the Bells, but how long will the popular trend of hologram performances last? Also, new music from Malek,Klaus Layer, Wes James, Planet Asia and Rich Kidd.

Given the turkeys we all feasted upon this past week, it’s only right that this week’s post rant shows a little gratitude to the things us hip-hop heads often overlook. We’re thankful for Danny Brown’s stories (this one is just the best); the decline of “YOLO” (thank God); SoundCloud, Audio Mack and other good quality music sharing sites which keeps this engine we call music running; independent talents-turned-mega music superstars like Kendrick Lamar and Frank Ocean; and the frequency of old school legends teaming up with some of the new school’s finest. Just take our first pick of this week’s best-releases-you-might-have-missed after the jump. Shouts to Rah Digga, The Game, Fabolous, Captain Murphy, Jabee and more.

So, Game is getting all religious on us, huh? (Repenting his sins just before 2013 perhaps). Not only is his upcoming fifth album called Jesus Piece–a record he says is about “Bible stories, scripture, life, living, all of that“–but the Compton MC will be blessing the masses with a free track on the Sabbath every week in the run-up to the release of his album as part of the newly announces #SundayService series. up first is a Bone Thugs-N-Harmony remix of his lead single, “Celebration”–fitting considering the track quite clearly samples the iconic Cleveland rap crew’s “1st of tha Month” hit. You can stream the joint below and download it for free here. Jesus Piece arrives December 11.

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
