Revisiting last year’s The Stoned Immaculate, “Showroom” is definitely one of the standouts on Spitta’s major label debut album. Today, Curren$y and Cardo reunite to give their smooth smoking jam its due sequel. Roll that shit, light that sh — you already know the drill.

king chip

Both Cleveland MC King Chip (formerly Chip Tha Ripper) and in-house Taylor Gang producer Cardo have had a productive 2012 so far. Chip released his biggest mixtape to date, Tell Ya Friends, and snagged a guest spot on Kid Cudi’s new single, “Just What Iam,” while Cardo released his debut solo project, Everything I$ Gold, on Fool’s Gold, as well as helping to score Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Allderdice record. The two indie successes combine today for “Ask A Baby,” a floaty, mellow number which serves as the first sample of King Chip’s next project, Clevelafornia. Get blitzed to this…

I had a brief look around at what’s been going on in hip hop over the past week. It seems the J Cole and Diggy Simmons beef has been reignited. It appears Mr. Cole took a shot at Diggy during a freestyle session. I dunno, it might just be me but I can’t take this beef too seriously. I hope it blows over soon. King of Comedy DL Hughley was the next celeb to attack Lupe Fiasco by calling his stance of not voting ‘silly.’ Each to their own, I personally think there are a lot more ‘sillier’ messages being thrown around in Hip-Hop. Lupe’s an easy target. Anyways, hit the jump to check out my top five tracks of the week – shouts to Gerald Walker, Cardo, Jaecyn Bayne, Yungen, Devilman and Dee Goodz.

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
