This first single we get from Run The Jewels makes us want to do so many hood rat things.
Weighing in at 17 hefty tracks, the album is best summarized as “The hardcore Hip-Hop with heart, like nitroglycerin/ The type of rap you feel in your cardiac/ The grimy, illmatical boom bap, mathematical goon rap” (“Truth”). It’s a mix of barbed wire for breakfast, tough guy lyricism, everyday wisdom, and personal meditations-all told through the meticulously calculated flows over timeless production and dynamic cuts. So without further adieu, we present you with The Grimy Awards – hit the jump for the full review and Spotify album stream.
As if “Piss Test” wasn’t trippy (with Juicy J on there, no other adjective quite cuts it) enough, A-Trak’s flagrant drug anthem gets a whole lot messier. Danny Brown’s gone AWOL (probably getting head from a toothless crackhead), but The Fool’s Gold chief has called in an eclectic and exciting group of sorts in Jim Jones, Flatbush Zombies, El-P and Flosstradamus for the juiced-up remix. It’ll appear on Fool’s Gold’s end-of-year compilation, Loosies, which drops December 18—assuming you haven’t OD’d on a cocktail of snort-able drugs by then.
Ill Bill and El-P are two MCs who are synonymous with outspoken, politically-brash music, so it’s only fitting that their collaboration be called “Severed Heads of State.”
Serving as the prequel to the ridiculously awesome “The Full Retard” video, El-P debuts the visuals for another Cancer 4 Cure cut, “Stay Down.”

Curren$y – “Mary”
Directed by: CJ Wallis
He may be a self-confessed stoner, but Curren$y is far from lazy. When he’s not in the studio pumping out umpteen projects a year, Spitta is busy on the road. In the new alternative video to “Mary,” off his New Jet City mixtape, the Jet Life chief compiles live footage from three of his most recent shows in just under three minutes.
