After much speculation and thirst, Kanye West not only announced the title and release date of his eagerly awaited sixth album, but unveiled two new singles: “New Slaves” and “Black Skinhead.”

Turning our attention of the lower echelons of the rap world, we pick our favorite slept-on releases from the past week. Thanks to Chuck Inglish, Gunplay, Julian Malone, Elijah Blake and Devine Camara.

Elijah Blake is looking like an angelic-voiced assassin in music right now. With high-profile and highly impressive collaborations (Rick Ross “Presidential,” Keyshia Cole “Wonderland,” The Game “Freedom”) and a Roc Nation deal acquired this year alone, the Dominican Republic-born, Florida-raised crooner is set to debut his Bjioux 22 project in the coming weeks. Amidst a star-studded list of contributors (No I.D., Don Cannon, 1500 Or Nothin’) is this little gem, “XOX,” which pairs Blake’s pining vocals with a rich, smooth verse from none other than Common. It’s early days, but don’t be surprised if Elijah Blake emerges as 2013’s face of contemporary R&B, a la Frank Ocean, The Weeknd or Miguel.

Rick Ross has given damn near half of his new album, God Forgives, I Don’t, the visual treatment, so one more video won’t hurt, right? Watch the luxurious film for the Elijah Blake-assisted “Presidential” cut after the jump.

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
