Erick Arc Elliott continues to bless us with good music outside of his Flatbush Zombies alliance. For Stay Champion’s upcoming 1992: Lisa Bonet project, the producer/MC flips Stark Reality’s “Dreams” into “50.”

Rich Flyer and Erick Arc Elliott produced a beat that balances chaos and order for the Beast Coast emcees to preach their message of “Do Better-isms.”

uno hype

He may be a newcomer out of Maryland (hardly a hip-hop hotspot), but Uno Hype has already nailed down a very polished sound. The MC recruited some impressive names, like Joey Bada$$, Smoke DZA and CJ Fly, for April’s Fxck The Hype mixtape, and his next release, Lxve You All, is looking like it’ll follow suit. For its first single, “100 Feet Up,” Hype links up with another smalltown hero XV as well as Erick Arc Elliott of Flatbush Zombies. Production outfit Odd Couple (who handle the entire production duties on the EP) craft a vast sonic backdrop to give flight to the trio’s bars. We’re loving Lxve You All already.

This week’s Heroes & Super Villains installment is not Holiday-themed (like you really need another spoonful of gross, insincere commercialism shoved down your throat, right?) There are no songs dedicated to Saint Nick, lyrics telling of romantic, snowy mornings or catchy, seasonal jingles, because, let’s face it, Christmas is so not hip-hop. But while you are enjoying the blessings of the Holiday season, here’s five releases from this week that any grumpy hip-hop head can bump in their headphones (because I know you’re not humming to any radio tunes). Merry Christmas, y’all – shouts to Asher Roth, The Yancey Boys, Erick Arc Elliott, Talib Kweli and Maffew Ragazino for the dopeness.

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
