asap rocky

It seems like this pretty enticing remix of “Pretty Flacko” was eventually left off the recently leaked Long.Live.A$AP due to A$AP Rocky‘s ill feelings towards friend-turned-foe SpaceGhostPurrp (who produced the beat), but whatever, at least we have it now, right? This sounded like a monster of a track when it was first previewed on UStream, and the fully fleshed beast doesn’t disappoint; Rocky sounds fresh from a swag juice skinny dip, Waka‘s just come off a coke line and Pharrell‘s his usual Coolest Motherfucker Alive-self. It’s only Gucci‘s verse which might persuade you to hit the skip button (which is a shame, considering he pipes up around the halfway mark), but a few shots down your neck and you’ll probably find yourself actually enjoying his elementary way with words. Shit, drunk rap is sometimes the best.

gucci mane

Gucci Mane and Young Jeezy go back–but not in the good sense. This week, the two rappers reignited their multiple-year-long feud with words shared via separate radio interviews; Gucci stating he has “no respect” for Jeezy on The Breakfast Club, Jeezy calling Gucci “retarded” on Big Boy’s Neighborhood. It’s all culminated into this new diss track from the Ice Cream Cone-branded half. In a series of non-sensical, elementary rhymes, Mr. La Flare tries his best to insult his long-time nemesis on “Truth.” Failing spectacularly, he just proves Jizzle one hundred percent correct: He is retarded.

eXquire

A little over a fortnight ago we heard eccentric Brooklyn MC Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire’s “Telephuck,” but now we’re graced with his new track, one of the early samples of his Power & Passion EP (due out November 6 via Universal), in full flesh–and boy is it even beefier. In polished, studio version, El-P’s filthy production can be appreciated properly, while it might even fool you into thinking MFN’s surprise guest, Gucci Mane, can actually rap. “This one should be played at high volume… preferably in a residential area.”

BustaRhymes1

Looks as if the flipmode frontman Busa Busss is offering his ninth album Year Of The Dragon as a free release via Google Play. Hit the jump for the tracklist, etc..

For two decades now, Busta Rhymes has drawn on a very specific and spastic type of energy—somewhere between craft-oriented party rocker and frothing-at-the-mouth apocalyptic paranoiac. On first listen, Busta’s ninth effort, Year of the Dragon, might seem subdued by comparison, as he’s mostly abandoned the hypertechnical fast raps in favor of more deliberate and menacing rap styles. But even in this restrained capacity, Busta operates at a higher intensity level than just about any of his peers, seething or shouting every word. He’s adaptable too, comfortable whether jumping into the clap-happy energy of current-day rap radio on “Grind Real Slow” or trading bars with Southern rap eccentric Gucci Mane over an old school James Brown beat on the aptly-titled “Make It Look Easy. – Andrew Nosnitsky, Google Play

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
