raekwon ghostface

In the run-up to the release of his new Piece Maker 3 (50 MCs Reunion) album on June 9, DJ Tony Touch is liberating plenty of gems from the vault, including this footage of Busta Rhymes and Ol’ Dirty Bastard freestyling back in ’93. The latest unreleased goodie is this Wu-Tang cut, “Unorthodox,” featuring Raekwon, JD Era, Ghostface Killah and RZA. This will live on Tony’s aforementioned LP.

With SXSW around the corner, The Commissioner Mick Boogie sparks up the 1200s for this Karmaloop x Decon presented SXSW Mixtape, titled Mass Appeal. This is one of many SXSW themed mixtapes I’m sure we’ll see orbiting the internets throughout the ides of March as we embark on the annual insanity that is South by Southwest. Btw, peep the cover in the SoundCloud embed and just marinate on the uncanny coincidence that I would post a song with the identical image used for this cover on the same day? (insert Twilight Zone theme music here). Anyways, this forty five minute mix boasts a heavyweight tracklist that includes songs and features, both representing the Decon artist roster and artists you could expect to find at the Mass Appeal party at the Kung Fu Saloon on Thursday March 15th (7pm-1am). Stream below and hit the jump for the tracklist and event details…

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
