While underground rappers are working hard to craft that perfect mixtape, Nipsey Hustle has chosen to offer the hard copy of Crenshaw, his upcoming mixtape, for a cool c-note. Genius move or outlandish mistake? Also, new music from Jean Grae, Planet Asia, Split Prophets, Swisha T, Madchild, Jon Rodgers & Antoine Jameson provide this week’s wrap up.

It looks like one of my favorite emcees has been working; in addition to the previously-promised Cake or Death, she’s also dropping Gotham Down, a project that will actually drop before C.O.D. Below is the self-produced first offering from Gotham Down, and it connects with the “King of Kong” documentary that’s been making it’s rounds on the internet and Netflix.

I’m already won over. Check the single below, and enjoy.

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
