Jon Connor is an emcee who really deserves some more recognition. Straight from his collab with Talib Kweli, the emcee has dropped the latest track from his next project, Unconscious State with rappers Chris Webby and Smoke DZA.

Trap isn’t often associated with “real hip-hop,” but three of today’s best “MCs’ MCs,” Talib Kweli, Freddie Gibbs and Jon Connor, prove it can be. On this unexpected new joint, “Makes No Sense,” the trio face off in a lyrical showdown over bellowing bass, chilling keys and crashing hi-hats. Thanks to Ty Kidd on the heads up.

The name ChrisCo may not ring a bell with many, but the Michigan-bred emcee has built an impressive resume for himself. Not only having bagged opening spots for the likes of Slaughterhouse, Saigon and Swollen Members, the rapper released his 5-track EP, How Does It Feel, last September, which was produced entirely by the genius that known as The Alchemist, and featured further contributions from Obie Trice, Crooked I, Killa Kyleon, Marv Won, Young Knox and Jon Connor. ChrisCo is currently prepping the release of a new single with the latter entitled “Straight Up”, which also features fellow Michigan native elZhi, and the production of legendary beatsmith, DJ Premier, who premiered (pun intended) the track on his radio show earlier this week. Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
