Not to name drop but House Shoes got remixes of B.I.G.’s tracks from Nottz, 14KT, Khrysis, Nameless, and more. Stream one of my favorites off the project, Khrysis’ reworking of “The Routine,” and the rest of the tracks after the jump.

Thanks to pretty hilarious missteps from Gucci Mane and Too $hort, the word of this week is embarrassment. Plus, peep our five favorite releases from the past seven days from Lord Finesse, Devin Miles, GQ, Mazzi & S.O.U.L. Purpose and Richy Marciano

It feels as though it has been a relatively quiet week for hot new releases in hip hop land. Nothing outrageous appears to have gone down over the past seven days. Mind you, I’ve have possessed a bit of a one track mind this week and haven’t dilly dallied as much in the blogosphere as I usually do. The week did not pass me by without me being aware of Beanie Sigel’s current situation. After watching his recent interview on Power105 The Breakfast Club, it was only a matter of time before something else popped off. Unfortunately, I didn’t have to wait that long as Beanie was arrested this week by cops who allegedly found him to be in possession of a firearm and a few bottles of syrup. The less said about that the better. Whatever the outcome of Beanie’s current woes, there is always somebody out there going through worse.

Harlem rapper Max B has just been informed that his 75 year conviction of felony murder and robbery is to be upheld. Such a shame. 75 years is an awfully long time. I hope he’s holding up OK.

In even sadder news, I’d like to take the time to send my regards to the friends and family of Chris Lighty who passed away yesterday. The founder of Violator Entertainment will be sorely missed. Twitter has been alight with tributes since yesterday. My prayers are with all of those affected by his loss, especially his family. R.I.P Chris Lighty.

Hit the jump to check out my favourite tracks of the week…shouts to S.A.S., Larry Cheeba, THURZ, Shystie and Torae. Have a blessed weekend!

Looks like Tame, Kaos and Elliot got the ol’ band back together for a family reunion. Good to hear the Brick City Kids spittin’ that acid tab vocab as they trade bars over this Khrysis produced heater. Throw in some cuts for good measure and bam, a classic hip-hop group has resurrected. Hit the ‘other mine‘ for a chance to win a free download. #ArtifactsBack

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
