After just one listen to Legends Never Die, you get a very accurate portrait of R.A.’s current position in life in a few ways. Of course you can just admire the album artwork in awe and fill in the blanks, if any are left. But for the full experience of a story about a man who’s struggled, won, and fights to preserve the art of Hip-Hop, you’re going to need to allot about 52 minutes with some Conan the Barbarian strength speakers. That said, go ahead and hit the jump to read our review for Legends Never Die in its entirety – SoundCloud album stream inclued.

Who remembers eMC’s ’08 LP The Show? If you do, chances are you’re still hungry for more from Masta Ace, Wordsworth, Punchline and Stricklin. We’ve had to remain patient these past few years, but thanks to M3 Records’ M3RRY XMAS compilation, the four MCs have reunited to gift this new cut, “4 Minutes.” And yes, as the title suggests, this is four minutes of heat. Pav Bundy on the production.

SonOfYvonne

I know there were a few of us who were hoping that when MA_DOOM was announced, it would have Masta Ace and Doom collaborating on all original beats. Although there was a small amount of disappointment when I realized Ace had chosen to rhyme over instrumentals from Doom’s Special Herbs, it still doesn’t change the fact that this is a concept album that does well for itself by following through with it until the end. Hit the jump to read the review in it’s entirety and check out the full album stream, courtesy of Spotify.

Ace & Doom, collectively known as MA DOOM, get set to deliver MA DOOM: Son of Yvonne this summer and bless us with the first leak, “Slow Down” to give us a taste of whats’ to come. Ahhh, the infinite pursuit of groupie love. I love how Ace takes the third person narrative for the first two verses and then flips it on the third verse to get to the moral (or lack thereof) of the story…well played sir!

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
