FridayFlips

For our 2nd consecutive week of Friday Flips, we take it to the dancehall, where we join forces with Nathan S. of Refined Hype to take a closer look at French Montana’s “Freaks,” featuring Nicki Minaj. Produced by Rico Love, the track borrows from both Chaka Demus & Pliers “Murder She Wrote” and Lil’ Vicious & Doug E. Fresh’s song bearing the same title, to create one mind fuck of a Reggae mashup.. so without further adieu, hit the jump and get your learn on, and your freak on. #FridayFlips

HipsterHop

Why do certain artists make it big and other (perhaps more exceptional) artists don’t? It’s a debate we constantly find ourselves having with our peers. I pondered this last night and just as I was about to close my eyes and drift off into slumberland, it suddenly came to me…The 5 S’s of Success. Hit the jump to ready Butta’s latest editorial in its entirety.

B.O.B

B.o.B. drops one of the more charismatic singles from his latest Strange Clouds LP. Featuring Nicki Minaj, it’s only right considering the topics in the song that this is themed around a mental hospital. With that being said, when’s the last time we’ve seen Nicki Minaj wear clothes in a music video? For the whole video? That actually might work for incentive to watch this video for some… haha. Check the video after the jump.

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
