Raheem DeVaughn and Styles P drop a track paying tribute to Trayvon Martin, but don’t compare this one to the masses.

the kid daytona

The Kid Daytona back-packed around Europe for his Summer Games: The Kid With The Golden Pen mixtape, but like many a trip-gone-wrong, the airport lost his shit. Fortunately, they recovered it a few months later, allowing Daytona to bless us with the almost-forgotten material via a new project, appropriately entitled Lost Luggage. And this Raheem DeVaughn-helped charmer was stuffed in one of the front pockets. Enjoy below.

With a collection of solid projects (free ones, may I add) rounding out her catalogue, North Carolina-repping emcee Rapsody is finally readying the release of her debut album, The Idea Of Beautiful. And just to give weight to our high expectations, she delivers the LP’s first single with “NonFiction”, a lively and soulful jam steered by the mastery of Jamla’s head producer 9th Wonder, and helped along by the sweet croons of Raheem DeVaughn and a stellar verse from Black Hippy’s evermore popular Ab-Soul. The Idea Of Beautiful drops August 28th via Jamla Records. Will you be copping?

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
