After a long, hot summer, this month saw Rapper Big Pooh drop his sixth solo album Fat Boy Fresh, Vol. 3: Happy Birthday Thomas, the third in his Fat Boy Fresh franchise. The Virginia native and Little Brother member chases 2012’s Fat Boy Fresh 2: Est. 1980, with a sonically distinct 13-track joint, establishing Pooh as a prolific and current contributor to the scene. Kosha is back at it again rapping over a smooth track, courtesy of Matty Trump, who handled the production on Sammy Adam’s debut album Boston’s Boy. The first verse, by Big Pooh, sets the bar for the dynamic collaboration. The bi-coastal Dillz then jumps into the fold and let’s us know that he just touched down in the city of Angels. Director Matthew Vaughan captures vibrance of a very colorful Koreatown, which serves as the perfect backdrop for both emcees. Hit the jump and check it out!

One rapper I’ve always got time for is Big Pooh. Prepping the third installment in his sorely slept-on Fat Boy Fresh mixtape series, the former Little Brother lyricist returns to his boom bap roots on “Gold Chain.” Produced by Mighty DR.

Reks and Rapper Big Pooh are two of the underground’s most consistent MCs. Go ahead, dig a little through their respective catalogs. I’ll wait for you to arise with a nod of agreement and a few gems stuffed in your pocket. It’s really no surprise that the Boston wordsworth and North Carolina smooth-spitter’s new collaborative effort, “I Remember,” is pure gold; a soulful, nostalgic and mildly pulsating smooth jam which is complimented with some great, relatable storytelling. Although Reks’ new solo album, Revolution Cocktail, has been delayed to February 26, we’ll be more than happy to keep occupied with this number for the next few weeks.

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
