Line-up of the year? Line-up of the year so far, that’s for sure. Hit-Boy continues to flex his industry muscles by grouping his own HS87 artists, Kent M$ney, Audio Push and B Mac The Queen, with a diverse and devastating cast of ScHoolboy Q, Casey Veggies, Xzibit, Rick Ross, Method Man, Redman & Raekwon on the aptly-titled “Cypher,” third release from his HS87 imprint’s All I’ve Ever Dreamed compilation (dropping March 12). The burning question here is who had the best verse? (And with Hit-Boy switching up the beat for a killer Rozay verse, that’s a fucking hard question).

After a week of complaints, Disqus comments and Hot 97 phone calls (“I gave Sway his first TV” – Kanye West, 2013), MTV have concluded their annual Hottest MCs in the Game list. All the details after the jump.

Curren$y, Wiz Khalifa and Rick Ross have proved to make a pretty potent trio on efforts like “Super High (Sativa Remix).” The three spark up once again for “Choosin’,” the first track off Spitta’s upcoming New Jet City mixtape. Each MC delivers right on par with their respective verses, but it’s Lex Luger‘s continued show of diversity in his craft that really shines here. New Jet City drops February 3, aka Super Bowl Sunday.

Rick Ross has a fair few trunk rattlers in his catalog already, but with the first single from his upcoming sixth LP, Mastermind, the Bawse supplies a certified cruising anthem. “Box Chevy” is far unlike anything heard on God Forgives, I Don’t, but the booming D Rich production still bangs. Mastermind is coming soon.

Greg Grease – “Forward”

If you’ve managed to get this far during the week, you probably deserve a break. And what good timing to introduce Greg Grease‘s latest video for “Forward”, a stripped down, less-is-more banger that doesn’t need to be overdramatic to get it’s point across. Directed by Adam Dunn as a part of his #LABB (Lights and a Backdrop) series, the visuals are as minimalistic as it gets, allowing the Grease, his DJ and his turntable to play centre stage. Check it out and be sure to pick up Greg Grease’s Black King Cole EP if you don’t already own it.
